McGoodbye Starbucks: McDonald's New Chain Is Here to Stay!

McDonald's opens a new chain called CosMc's, targeting quick energy boosts.

CosMc's is beverage-heavy, with coffee, lemonades, teas, and unique treats like churro frappés and blueberry ginger boosts.

Food options include never-before-seen McPops, creamy avocado tomatillo sandwiches, spicy queso sandwiches, McFlurrys, and Egg McMuffins.

The first CosMc's opens in December in Bolingbrook, Illinois, with 10 more locations coming to Texas in 2024.

CEO Chris Kempczinski says CosMc's is a futuristic experiment inspired by a 1980s McDonald's character who was part alien, part surfer, and part robot.

The name and theme are meant to evoke the question: "What would happen if a McDonald's character from the 1980s opened a restaurant today?"

CosMc's is designed to appeal to customers looking for a quick energy boost, similar to Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts.

The chain aims to add 10,000 namesake stores by 2027.

The new chain's colorful branding and dynamic options are reminiscent of Tim Hortons.

CosMc's offers a more limited food selection compared to McDonald's, catering primarily to those seeking sugary and/or caffeinated beverages.
